Engine bays are usually pretty dull and covered with oily parts. One option is to fit a nice engine cover which is the option that many manufacturers go for, especially on newer cars.

Car tuning

This owner has a rather tasteful Manga character spray painted on the engine. Obviously a heat resistant paint and lacquer should be used or it will discolour under the high temperatures of the engine bay. A few additional hoses and pipes have been added in blue to match and creates a nice finish.
