A combination of blue silicone hoses, metallic finishes and red HT leads help to differentiate the many engine components. Most silicone hoses need to be custom built expecially where they connect to afms or bovs. Colour coding is generally blue for coolant and air, red for exhaust and electrical although some use yellow or green for their electrical stuff.

    I love the idea of silicone. I have a BMW 335 and I would like to replace all of the critical hoses with silicone due to the superior heat resistance.
