A new feature on alloy wheels is the spinner. This is a freely rotating disc over the standard wheel which freewheels after the car is stopped. These spinners can look fantastic but you really need the right car and you need to have other quality styling mods to avoid it looking tacky.

Above: Flame spinners fitted to a BMW.
Cleaning alloy wheels with spinners can be difficult as there are now 4 surfaces to clean and the spinner cap will need to be removed. Keeping it polished will protect it and help it to resist brake dust and corrosion. If you notice the outer rim in the picture above the spinner is not proud of this so if you hit a kerb you will scuff the rim of the wheel but not damage the spinner.
