They say information is power but how much information do you as a driver need? Which Dials and Gauges are actually useful? It is certainly possible to overdo the amount of dials and gauges you can have in a car but it does allow you to enjoy a motorsport tech look inside the car. The best gauges to go for are in my opinion and in this order:-
- Tacho Rev counter (If the car does not have one)
- Engine oil temperature – More accurate that water temperature.
- Oil Pressure – Gives advance warning of engine trouble.
- Boost gauge – For turbo engines
- Voltmeter/Ammeter – handy for diagnosing battery/charge faults
The rest are somewhat immaterial but there are still plenty of dials and gauges available such as tyre pressure/temperature, Brake temp, air intake temp, vacuum, outsite temp, G forces, altimeter etc…
